Sriharikota Educationist Chosen for National Anubhav Award
A career may end, but meaningful service often leaves a lasting legacy. Dr Ayanapurapu Ramalingeswara Rao, a retired postgraduate teacher of Space Central School in Sriharikota, has been selected for the National Anubhav Award 2026. A trilingual author, artist and personality development trainer, he will receive the honour at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on August 17. The award recognises his contribution to education, professional service and community engagement.
Honouring Experience and Expertise
Instituted in 2015, the Anubhav initiative recognises retired personnel for their contributions to public service, institutional development and social welfare. Retired employees share accounts of their work, innovations and professional experience through the Anubhav portal. Entries from Central government departments and other eligible public institutions are reviewed before the national awardees are selected. Fifteen recipients are chosen on the basis of service, expertise and post-retirement contribution.
A 38-Year Academic Journey
Rao served for 38 years as a postgraduate teacher at Space Central School under the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. He has travelled to the United States, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Luxembourg and Nepal as part of his academic and creative pursuits. He has authored nearly 25 books in Telugu, Hindi and English. His personality development sessions, which combine communication techniques with magic and mimicry, have earned recognition among students and professional groups.
Award Ceremony in Delhi
The award will be presented at a special programme organised by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. The ceremony will be held under the guidance of Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh. Rao has received the official invitation from New Delhi. Employees in Sriharikota, former colleagues, prominent citizens, Space Central School staff and alumni have congratulated him, describing the honour as recognition of his contribution to education, literature and public engagement.
